Note that our office requires a referral from a physician, normally a primary care doctor, before accepting a new patient. We realize that living with pain is never easy, but we want to be sure that treatments and therapies are done in the context of overall care.
That said, medical research indicates that a patient suffering from chronic pain is often dealing with two or more interrelated problems, each of which requires proper diagnosis and treatment to achieve optimal results. While general practitioners can offer a variety of methods for dealing with pain, in many instances a doctor who specializes in pain management is better able to both determine the root causes of and provide effective treatment for chronic pain. We here at Folsom Pain Management can help in addressing a wide variety of pain issues.
